TITLE:           "Starting to Bloom"

MEDIUM:       Watercolor on paper

SIZE:             5 1/2 x 8 1/2"

COMMENTS: As I was eating my lunch in the garden I was fascinated with the stages of the rhododendron blooms. They so quickly pop out. I started painting this as an en plein air oil but it is waiting for finishing touches. Today I painted the same composition in watercolor, a very different medium. My limited palette of colors made all kinds of nuances of greens from cool to warm to set off the delicate petals of the fresh flower. 

This small painting comes to you unframed. The size works well in a standard 8 x 10" mat. Ready-made frames that size are available at craft and framing shops. What a lovely gift idea for someone!
