The original painting, "Sunflower Ballet", came from a colorful garden sunflower that attracted my eye with its petals extending in three dimensions . The compositional lines reminded me of a ballet dancer in a graceful  yet dynamic pose.  I chose the dark background to accentuate that pose of the sunflower and its leaves. 

The painting's edges are painted as part of the imagery. A frame is not necessary. However, you could use one if you wanted to. The painting comes to you unframed.
