ABSTRACT SUNFLOWER PAINTING

TITLE:           "Patchwork Sunflower"

MEDIUM:       Acrylic on watercolor paper 

SIZE:               12 x 9"

COMMENTS:  This colorful painting of  sunflowers developed from  abstract color strokes with a #6 Bright brush. I applied a few colors and then looked at the composition for weeks before it seemed to suggest sunflowers to me. 

Then I started to develop a composition from the brushstrokes without losing the spontaneity of the colors. The sunflower head looked like a patchwork quilt so I focused on that motif. I had a lot of fun painting this colorful painting.

The painting comes to you unframed. It is sealed with varnish on both sides of the paper so you can frame with or without glass. A light colored mat would really accent the bright colors.
