Her love of horses started as a young child. Animals were always a part of her family's life. Joann's eighth grade graduation present was a palomino mare and her sorrel colt. Those two were later replaced with her favorite horse, a black Morgan gelding with some Arabian blood in him. He was a very versatile horse, a wonderful mount for riding in the mountains. The western art she paints is inspired by her family's ranch life experiences in California and in Oregon. Comments from collectors of her horse paintings "Aside from the vibrant colors and detail, I am a quarter horse owner/trainer. I have 3 of my own, plus I have multiple others that I work with. The first horse with the white blaze looks like you were in my yard painting her, the second horse looks like my bay filly, and the third horse looks like my chestnut gelding. Are you sure you weren't in New York painting?" Ed - NY "I love your horse paintings. We had horses and your paintings seem to help me relive my childhood!" Marilyn - VA
