Western United States locales enrich her with sources for her landscape paintings and prints. A native of California, she used pastels for her first landscapes as a student in the San Francisco Bay area. She remembers being surprised by the encouraging commendations of her 8th grade art teacher. Rural landscapes grew out of the special childhood experiences on her grandparents' ranch in the foothills of the San Joaquin Valley and her parents' rural property in the Los Gatos area. When her family moved to a ranch in Oregon their horses went with them, and cattle became an important part of their life. Light, colors, and spacious vistas in California, Oregon, and Washington attract her attention as an artist. Summers at the Pacific Ocean beaches provide images for her seascape paintings. The painting above of an Oregon beach,
"Siletz Bay", a 20 x 16" acrylic on canvas, graced the cover of the Spring Hill Review magazine, a Journal of Northwest Culture, for the month of June, 2002.
Comments from collectors "Thank you so much, I just LOVE the painting!" "Your style touches something in my heart..." Allison - CA "I loved your paintings of the moving water. I live close to Glacier park, and I deal with a great many artists in the valley. It is very difficult to find someone who captures running water as well as you do. I also love that you concentrated on the water and made it the center of interest instead of the fauna surrounding them. Delightful pieces that bring the viewer to a place of solitude and reflection." Rocky - MT |
